Cairngorms Trail Maps - Key
Many of the Cairngorms biking routes listed around the Aviemore area were discovered using a series of maps developed by Steve Smirthwaite.

We used his original Bikemaps in the development of these rides.  These were available in the Tourist Information Offices at Aviemore & Grantown on Spey, and Bothy Bikes, to name just 3 outlets.
They are a collection of several sheets, each of which have several rides and variations.

In Sept 2007 Steve released a set of improved and updated versions Trailmaps - Strathspey Maps.

They are well worth the money and very detailed indeed in terms of difficulty ratings, distances and gradients.  In fact, they are invaluable!

Because some visitors to our site may have the old maps (thousands have been sold) and some may have the new ones, we've come up with a key such that you can follow our routes, whichever version you buy.

Key:   BM is for owners of the 7 "old" Bikemaps from Steve. SM is for the new range of 5 maps.

You can buy these maps from the outlets mentioned above, direct from Steve and also via the internet from the Bikemaps website.
Visit either of these sites using the links below.  Steve also has a huge range of maps for other areas and countries.

In January 2008, Steve produced a new map covering the Abernethy/Nethy Bridge area.  You'll find this useful for our Loch A Chnuic ride and others in the Nethy Bridge area, including a few intersting trails that we haven't done - yet(!)
