Start from the Visitors Centre car park by the Spar shop in Nethy Bridge. With the river on your left go up the lane
passing the church on your right.
The road continues to Lower Dell with a chalet/cottage site on your left. Follow the
trail alongside this into the Abernethy Forest and enjoy the lovely off-road trail, which is very easy and peaceful. Eventually
you will climb a slight rise and come to the logging road.
Turn left here and continue until you reach Forest Lodge. There
is a gate here on the right marked for Ryvoan Pass and Glenmore. Take this trail (it goes off to the left shortly after going
through the gate) and you now have quite a climb off-road through forests with wonderful views all around you.
Continue along
the Ryvoan Pass for a few miles until you reach the Ryvoan Bothy on your right.
Now you've got some great downbank to Glenmore
but be careful - there is one very rocky downhill section that needs to be taken at a speed that avoids an ambulance or helicopter
coming for you.
Pass the Green Lochan on your left and continue down through the Glenmore Forest until you reach the main road.
There are a few turnings and trails that will bring you to the road. Play on some of the Forest Trails for a while if you wish.
Unlike
the previous ride (16), this one avoids An Sluggan.
Continue to the Glenmore Visitors Centre and pick up the excellent Old Logging
Way. This is a cycle/walkers path that avoids you having to use the busy main road.
It's a great ride down all the way
to Inverdruie. At one point you have to cross the road - take care.
At Coylumbridge, by the camping site, turn right on the road
signposted Nethy Bridge and Boat of Garten and then you have a lovely road ride back to Nethy Bridge, passing Loch Pityoulish on your
right (nice place for an energy bar and a cuppa).
This is a relatively quiet road and suitable for all ages, but take care on
blind bends.
Keep an eye out for some nice views of the River Spey on your left too.
Variations:
You could, if you wished return
via An Sluggan but we've got this on the anti-clockwise route - ride 16 on the previous page.
Another alternative is having passed
Loch Pityoulish, turn right and bike over Tulloch Moor. At the end of this lane turn left or right to bike around Tore Hill
and pick up the road again back to Nethy Bridge.
You could also bike up and over Tulloch Moor, turn left and then left again
to bike to Loch Garten, continuing on to pick up the road again.
It's simply up to you and your legs!
