This
is a lovely, easy road ride, as many miles as you want to go. It is best done in autumn when the colours are at their most
magnificent.
It is 5 miles from Inverdruie to Feshiebridge and then the same again to Auchlean.
Starting from Inverdruie
take the road South signposted Feshiebridge. The road is simply a delight but it is undulating so expect a few upbank pulls
(nothing severe by any means).
The road passes through both deciduous and coniferous woodland with views all around too to the mountains.
This
is a great wildlife ride too. We've had deer on the road in front of us and lots of birds of prey about, so keep your eyes peeled.
Just
before reaching Feshiebridge, turn left, signposted Lagganlia & Auchlean. The road passes the glider airfield and continues
past a carpark to the end of the road. There are some stunning views down the glen in this area and a good place to stop for
a snack.
Return the same way to the road junction. You may want to turn left down the hill to have a look at the river
from the bridge.
Then retrace your route back to Inverdruie.
Variation {1}: Continue on the single track after the
road ends. You'll come to a river crossing here. If the river is low enough you can ford it (it's up to you to decide
what "low enough" is)!
Follow the trail across the field to the bridge over the river and cross to the other side. From here
you get a great ride back along the road until reaching the junction for Ballintean. Bike through this lovely collection of
houses and continue high above the river, eventually dropping back down to Feshiebridge.
Variation {2}: Come back along
the road to Dalnavert and pick up the forest trails to Loch an Eilein via the Bothy (see route 2) and then back to the carpark.
But
really what you MUST do really is to come back via the road and as a special treat call in for chocolate cake and coffee at the Inshriach
Nurseries, where a big surprise will await you (we won't spoil it).
