Biking Pages News
October/November 2009:
You can download all the rides as a Word document from the "Routes" page. This is a no-frills file, text only, such that you can print it off in a font of your choice and take it out with you.

Welcome to our Biking Routes Pages.
Sept 2009:
Okay, all you crazy, hungry cyclists - thanks for the emails and at your request, the routes are back!

Most of the bike rides featured in this section are in the Cairngorms area of Scotland, centered around Aviemore & Nethy Bridge with a few of them a short drive away.  We intend to expand into other areas such as Deeside etc in the future. Some of the routes are road, some off-road and some a mixture of both. Many are circular routes, many "there and back" routes.

Don't expect drawings and maps and expressions like "After 1 mile, turn left through the pig sty" etc.  There are references to OS Maps and other literature where applicable (click on the menu option on the left for details), as much detail as required without spoiling the pleasure of discovering it for yourself and a bit of advice where applicable. Any distances given are guidelines only because there may be route variations, different starting points, other options etc etc.

Difficulty Ratings:
Well, we're not listing them as easy, intermediate, difficult etc because any ride can vary in difficulty due to weather, prevailing winds, how dry or muddy it is, seasons (shorter rides and less light in winter), rider's off-road experience and so on.  However, there are no extreme, life threatening tough rides at all.  They have been selected to give visitors a good look around the area by bike, hopefully with routes that they may not have discovered on their own.
All these rides, unless otherwise stated, should be easily ridden by someone of average fitness and many are great for families too.  They are half day or full day rides with plenty of time to take in the scenery as well as getting fit.  Indeed, we plan all our rides around spending time in the fresh air, in lovely scenery as much as challenging ourselves to the tough stuff.  You may do them quicker than us, but we will have seen & experienced more of the surroundings ;-)
We hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoy them.

Nov 2009:
I had hoped to add a couple of new rides after our recent visit, but due to a big "off" on day one, I ended up with quite a few broken ribs and a couple of cracked ones.  So, the rides will not be updated now until spring '10 at least.
Enjoy them and TAKE CARE - rocks hurt!!
